According to wikipedia
Erotic electrostimulation (abbreviated e-stim and also known as electrosex) is a human sexual practice involving the application of electrical stimulation to the nerves of the body, with particular emphasis on the genitals, using a power source (such as a TENS, EMS, Violet wand, or made-for-play units) for purposes of sexual stimulation. Electrostimulation has been associated with BDSM activities, and erotic electrostimulation is an evolution of that practice. Erotic electrostimulation is the use of electrostimulation in an erotic or sexual manner versus the more sadistic or painful applications in BDSM.
I prefer to call it fun!
As the human body functions on electricity, it seems to me that using that electricity to enhance sexual pleasure is obvious. Now I’m not advocating you wire yourself to the mains supply, that might hurt or even cause serious injury, nor try licking 9v batteries (that just hurts!), but I do enjoy the pleasure that a good e-stim box can give. I have tried virtually every unit on the market, an I know what I like, this site allows me to be a little more free with comment and ideas than my day job.
When is e-stim not e-stim?
When I talk to people many people get confused between e-stim and violet wands. Well they both use electricity and they both zap don’t they? No!!! Violet wands are much higher voltage (in the 1000′s of volts) and were originally created as a quack medicine tool. They create ozone, can cause skin irritation and even skin burns when used incorrectly.
Going a little deeper, E-Stim can also be confused with TENS and EMS. TENS is the use of electricity for pain relief (see my comments on TENS and E-Stim), and EMS is Electro Muscle Stimulation – basically devices used to build muscles. Neither are made for pay dedicated E-Stim units.
